On this week’s podcast, we discuss the strange case of Alec Baldwin, Hiram Garcia on Black Adam, plus news on SupergirlTitans, and the DC Universe service.

Alec Baldwin DOES NOT join the cast of Joker movie? – Deadline

  • Was cast in a role believed to be Thomas Wayne
  • The Hollywood Reporter sources cited the role as “a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump”
  • On Twitter, the Alec Baldwin Foundation said that it was “Not happening”
  • USA Today – Baldwin said he wouldn’t be doing the movie due to “scheduling”, and “I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”
  • Filming begins September 10, film releases October 2019

Producer Hiram Garcia talks Black Adam film – Collider

  • Said the movie is “definitely happening” and there has been significant progress on the script
  • Always wanted Dwayne Johnson to play a superhero and they had plenty of options
  • On why Black Adam – “Black Adam just made kind of great sense. It was this kind of really cool antihero, kicks ass, who believes in basically exacting justice in his way with a fascinating backstory, the history he has with regards to having been a former slave and freeing his people and then getting his abilities and what happened from there.”
  • They decided to make Black Adam and Shazam! Separate movies to not “cram” them in to one and give each character time
  • Currently revising the script, which they are very excited about. “it’s going to deliver on the goods of everything you’d want to see Black Adam do”
  • On the characterization of Black Adam – “Especially when he’s not a boy scout. Especially when he’s got edge to him. Like, he’s not the boy scout superhero, he’s the guy that’s like, okay, you cross him? Well, I rip your head off, and then I move on to the next guy.”

Anthony Konechny (Almost Human) cast in a recurring role in Supergirl Season 4

  • According to Deadline, he will play “Agent Jensen, a DEO agent recruited by Alex (Chyler Leigh) who struggles to find his footing at the DEO.”
