Casting for “Untitled Birds of Prey” film – Deadline
- Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights, True Blood) as Black Canary
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 10 Cloverfield Lane) as Huntress
- “They join Margot Robbie who reprises her Suicide Squad role of Harley Quinn in a Gotham that isn’t protected by Batman.”
- Main roles still need to be cast – Cassandra Cain, Renee Montoya, Black Mask
- Observer interview with Winstead – said she’s “excited” that is female-led both in front of and behind the camera
Writers/Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa give update on Joker/Harley movie – Metro
- They’ve handed in the script and said it was well-received by the studio but don’t know when it could film; Ficarra – “Maybe if ‘Birds Of Prey’ goes well ours will be next.”
- Described as a mix of Bad Santa and This is Us (they’ve worked on both)
- Starts with Harley abducting Dr. Phil for Joker relationship advice

- Will we see another look for the Joker in the film?
WB announces a 4k UHD release of Superman (1978) (Superman Homepage)
- Available November 6th as UHD combo-pack and digital
- Will be the original theatrical version (143 minutes)

CW Crossover news
The CW’s December crossover event is titled “Elseworlds”

- Old DC Comics “Elseworlds” imprint tag line – “In Elseworlds, heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places – some that have existed, and others that can’t, couldn’t, or shouldn’t exist. The result is stories that make characters who are as familiar as yesterday seem as fresh as tomorrow.”
- Asked on Twitter if this means the crossover isn’t in continuity, Arrow/Legends consultant Marc Guggenheim said “Nope”
LaMonica Garrett (Transformers 2, The Last Ship TV series) cast as Monitor
- Character description from DC Comics – “Garrett will be playing Mar Novu, an extraterrestrial being of infinite power known as the Monitor. The Monitor was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez as part of DC Comics’ 50th Anniversary. Mr. Pérez will be illustrating a sketch of the Monitor that plays a prominent role in the crossover’s story.”
- The Monitor(s) are used to keep track of the multiverse
- Monitor is most well-known for role in Crisis on Infinite Earths, although the character was introduced a few years before that
- Could there be some kind of crisis?
- Crossover begins December 9th
