Casting for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is picking up, with a couple new members added to the team. We discuss this plus a bevy of DC TV trailers including Swamp Thing, Pennyworth, Krypton, and Lucifer.

 

 

 

David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight, Ant-Man, Abra Kadabra on The Flash) cast as Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad – The Hollywood Reporter

  • Obscure Batman villain introduced in the 60s, wears a costume with Polka-Dots on it
  • Polka-Dot Man appeared in Batman: The Brave and The Bold and had a cameo in The Lego Batman Movie
  • “the project is described as a new take on the property from the mind of Gunn that will feature a mix of new and old characters.”
  • Confirms other new characters – whoever Idris Elba plays, Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, King Shark, and Polka-Dot Man

Newcomer Daniela Melchior to play Ratcatcher in The Suicide Squad – Variety

  • “In the comics, Ratcatcher was originally portrayed as a man who was one of Batman’s many enemies, but sources say the studio is now casting the role as a woman who will have some connection to whomever Elba ends up playing”

  • Gayden was attached before BvS even came out
  • Safran talked a lot about making individual films that don’t necessarily need to tie together
  • Safran doesn’t think Black Adam and Shazam will be in the same film until Black Adam has a solo film
  • Safran says the Aquaman sequel is slated for 2022 because it takes awhile to get the screenplay and produce a big film
