Deadline seemingly confirms Variety’s report that Robert Pattinson has been cast as Batman

  • Deadline described The Batman as “the trilogy of films that Matt Reeves will direct later this year”
  • Says WB wanted to see Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult on tape yesterday and approved of Reeves’ choice of Pattinson
  • Negotiations should be underway with an announcement soon
  • “This film will in no way carry on the work that Ben Affleck did as the older Batman in Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.”

Comic book writer Tom King to co-write the screenplay for New Gods movie with director Ava DuVernay – The Wrap

  • Confirmed by DuVernay online
  • King is known for writing The Omega Men, Mister Miracle, and Batman comics
  • King’s run on Batman is ending, but is doing a 12-part Batman/Catwoman series and other projects for DC
  • King teased it on Twitter – “There came a time when the Old Gods died…”
  • DuVernay was first reported to be attached to the film March 15, 2018
  • Duvernay’s Netflix mini-series When They See Us just released, so her schedule should be clear
